Hey folks, I'll be running a two-part virtual PD through Nassau BOCES in March 2025 called "Grading for Equity" using Joe Feldman's text, Grading for Equity, as our guide. To register, go to: https://lnkd.in/ehw8gkwn While grading is an everyday practice for classroom teachers, we rarely have the opportunity to interrogate our grading practices and understand how grades impact our students' attitudes, well-being, and academic success. In this transformational course, we will use Grading For Equity by Joe Feldman as our anchor text to 1) understand how traditional grading practices impact our students, and 2) how we can use research-based grading policies that are accurate, bias-resistant, motivational, and empowering. Rather than lectures, this course is active and engaging, using the case study method and rigorous discussion to support learning.

If you're using LLM code generation, I urge you please to stop and really think about the code the tool's spitting out. It's called "Copilot", not "Autopilot". (PS. You may come to the conclusion that it's not saving you the time you think it is.)

In the months leading up to the closing of InVision, I built a bulk export workflow for the V6 cloud product. This provided a way for users to export Prototypes and Boards as ZIP files (complete with both data and image files) for archival purposes. The ZIP files are designed to be consumed directly from the user's local file system. Which means, these ZIP files can also be used to host static sites on public URLs. As a final gesture of good will, I wanted to demonstrate (VIDEO) how InVision V6 users can upload those ZIP files—FOR FREE—to Cloudflare Pages. We started off originally building our Portfolio view for assets we extract from Brokerage statements. Today we've added another piece of the puzzle by bringing Private Investment holdings (Private Equity Funds, Syndications, JVs, etc) extracted from Capital Statements into our platform.

🤖 Engineers! How do you use ChatGPT? ⏰ Sure, it gives us an advantage to do almost anything faster. Most importantly, it gives us the ability to research, review and observe faster. Where do you draw a line for ChatGPT or other AI use? Personally at Grata and Speer, the line is drawn at understanding. If you’re unable to learn through AI and are solving problems you cannot understand during the process, then you need to be spending more time on the problem than writing prompts. ❌ I would NOT use AI if you: 🗣️ If you can’t explain the PR and what you leveraged 👷‍♀️ If you created components from scratch without using existing work 🤨 What do you think?

OpenAI coming for Meta blood with GPT-4o mini. 60% cheaper than GPT-35-Turbo and more accurate, which means generally it will beat LLaMA 70B Instruct. Not one for hype, but this *right now* is a bit of a gamechanger because productionizing accurate, high parameter LLMs can be nearly impossible from a CapEx standpoint, especially if you're facing direct competition from legacy ML products which may not be as accurate but can operate for much much cheaper right now. LLaMA 70B is a beast though, no shade to my Meta homies.
